Legal Manager

Opus is seeking a Legal Manager to provide commercial and corporate legal advice across the business.  With a focus on legal issues relevant to the recruitment industry, this is an opportunity to provide real value and be a business partner to a fast-growing privately owned and global group.



What you'll be doing

Reporting to the CFO, the jobholder will:

Provide legal advice globally on negotiation and management of commercial terms, including managing disputes as they arise

Draft and maintain template terms and conditions globally

Give accurate and timely counsel to Board and Senior Management Team on legal issues and risks across the business

Provide ad hoc legal support to other divisions such as HR, marketing, business operations and finance

Lead corporate compliance and good governance processes, including company secretarial work

Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, etc.), creating relations of trust

Provide legal and commercial insight and updates for the business and deliver training and awareness across the business on all things legal

Maintain up to date knowledge of changes to relevant legislation

Ensure all areas of the business are legally compliant with applicable laws and drive best practice in policies and processes




3-5 years PQE or non-legally qualified candidate with industry-specific equivalent experience.

In-house legal experience essential

An in-depth understanding of relevant laws, including GDPR and IR35

Strong technical knowledge of contracts and commercial agreements

Experience in recruitment industry highly desirable

Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures

Highly organised, methodical and ability to work independently and proactively

Ability to build excellent cross-functional relationships with key members of the management team

High degree of professional ethics and integrity

Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information

Outstanding communication skills
