The Opportunity

  • Launched in 2008, we have grown to $100m turnover company with 300 staff in 7 offices (5 countries)
  • An opportunity to conduct a full review of the current functions and to ensure they are fit for purpose for our next stage of growth

  • Spend and ROI analysis and making commercial decision making that balances risk without hindering growth or sales performance
  • In depth reporting and storytelling through data to ensure we are getting the best out of our sales teams as well as our spend and making robust recommendations
  • The company is 100% privately owned and self-funded. To see a return for the shareholders and expediate future growth, this role will involve capital raising over a 3-5 year period
  • Investment strategy includes expanding current offices, further International expansion, M&A, developing new business models, investing in the newer parts of the business including tech training and talent solutions, and investing in tech and systems to improve business efficiency.

What you’ll be doing

The primary focus of the CFO will be to lead and manage all processes for budgeting, financial reporting and forecasting. The jobholder should support the Group in accelerating growth by analysing liabilities and investments, managing cash and liquidity risks, optimising spend and making commercial decisions that balance risk and growth.

This will include long term strategic decisions, such as back office transformations, fundraising opportunities and capital structure.

Working closely with the Group Managing Director, the CFO will track long term trends in Sales performance and activities. The jobholder will use data to build a picture of what is going on in the business and deliver the right messages to the right people to drive improvement.

Another key focus of the role will be to enhance the businesses ability to convert sales into profit. This will, in part, be done by controlling spend against the Company’s Budget and Business Plan through regular monitoring in conjunction with SMT, but may also mean getting involved in decision making that may affect cash flow for both the sales teams and non-sales functions budgets.

The jobholder will lead and manage the Non Sales functions to optimise centralised spend on support services and business systems and to ensure that the business is receiving a service that is both high quality, efficient and cost effective.

The CFO will ensure that revenue generation remains the core focus of the business and that they trust and respect difficult decisions being made by the CFO in relation with their business units.

The jobholder will become a statutory director of the business and sit on the Board, using this platform to give a detailed analysis of the data and recommend strategic or operational changes to the CEO and Founder.

The CFO will also be a champion of the growth agenda; they will have a good understanding of the recruitment and tech market trends and regulatory changes to recommend new markets and new ways of generating profit, or mitigating risk (e.g. GDPR and IR35).

They will also lead from the front on all major legal and compliance issues, enlisting and endorsing the help of specialists when needed.

Finally, this role will involve negotiation and decision making in major commercial arrangements, for clients, partners and suppliers alike and to participate in the preparation of sizeable business proposals, bids and tenders in conjunction with other members of the Senior Team.
