Our people

Freddie Short

UK Associate Sales Director

It’s rare you get to work with people who you would also consider genuine mates outside of work. This helps maintain a positive culture within the team.

There are many employers out there... What made you choose Opus?

I joined straight out of university five years ago, so it’s not so much about why I chose Opus initially, but more about why I’ve stayed. Quite simply, nowhere else can offer the same career progression, financial incentives and L&D opportunities.

Opus is unique in that nature.

Tell us a bit about your role…

I’m currently working as the UK Associate Sales Director. I sit within the contract division at Opus, and my main responsibilities are to drive sales for the division through individual efforts and assisting the team as a whole.

What do you get up to on a typical day?

It would be hard to put a pin on a ‘typical day’ as every day is different. I’m focused towards the business internally and also work in a client-facing role, so I’m always working on new tasks.

What’s the best thing about working here?

The people!

What’s your opinion on our L&D?

The L&D is one of Opus’ strongest areas. Whether you’re a trainee or a director, you’re constantly being trained.

What are the two most important things you’ve taken away from training?

One, there is always room for improvement. Two, trust what you’re being told – Opus has been built on solid advice so it will never fail.

What incentivises you at work?

Being challenged on a daily basis! The rest of the amazing things that happen at Opus are a by-product of overcoming the daily challenges of the role.

What's been your biggest achievement?

Recruiter Magazine’s Most Inspiring Newcomer to the UK Recruitment Industry - Winner.

What do you think makes someone successful at Opus?

Hard work, and striving to be the best!

To anyone thinking about applying, what would you tell them?

Embrace the opportunity and give it 100% if you get the chance. Not many people hit the levels that Opus employees reach.

What do you do in your spare time?

Play football and PS4. Eat crisps in large quantities (salt and vinegar Pringles are No.1!).
